Between Twelve and Thirteen months

Eliana's vocabulary has really expanded this last month. Her first words were " Ma Ma" last June and now she is a copying alot of words we say (Ophir has to be careful at times hee hee).
She has spoken chinese words such as "ni ni" (milk ), maat (sock), jea jea(big sister), poa poa (grandma on moms side), woo woo (dog bark), "mo dow" (don't touch), "pow pow" (pick up), "ba ba" (daddy). In hebrew she says "or" (light) and "par" (butterfly), "ma" (what) so far. In english she says turtle, calls our dog "maa", can't do the " x" for Max yet, nanna for banana, da da for daddy, bye bye, wow, to date. We look forward to more words comin from her mouth soon and will keep everyone updated (Kat is trying to teach her some slangs-the good ones).

Monkeying Around...

Cousin Jenn's family stopped by for a visit on the 25th

Eliana learned how to fetch too!
Pointing again...
I love my sis and she loves me.

Canucks are # 1,,,

"NOT" (thats for Aunte J), actually Eliana has recently learned how to point and here she is demonstrating how to use this finger.

I think she is realizing how much control she can have using this finger, especially with daddy

What a Doo!!!

Eliana's hair is growing(as you can tell) so quickly and with lots of volume. Normally it is quite curly after her bath but these pics are of her in the morning when she wakes. Do you think all of this hair makes her look more mature? I finally wrapped it into 3 ponytails but didn't pull it all the way thru so she ended up looking like Makka Pakka from In a Night Garden show. Lucky they don't remember what us parents to do them at this age, lol...

Snow?

Eliana had her first real encounter with this white stuff yesterday and really wasn't sure if she liked it (don't blame her as I'd rather be in the sun too). She was standing there in a frozen state not wanting to move, so that was the end of her venture into the snow. I think she may grow up and move to a desert climate fast...

An Early Gift, what can you say...

Eliana opened one of her gifts (abit early but it was huge to wrap and won't fit under the menorah) so this is our little one staring in awe at the gadgets in this "party time kitchen" as it is called.
You can see she is clearly delighted, who wouldn't if they just got a new kitchen.

Eliana discover the sizzling stovetop burner (it actually sizzles when you put the frying pan on it and it boils when you put a pot on).

This is Eliana tasting it and running away with it quickly.

We somehow knew her sister would be involved quickly once she got home from school.
Sister serving a cup of tea.

The next favourite thing to do is play in the cardboard box and it was sister who jumped in first with Eliana peeking overtop with dad's help.

1 Year Doctors Visit

Eliana visited the doctor's office Thursday, Dec. 4th for her annual checkup and round of shots. I deliberately booked the last appointment of the day so we did not have to leave immediately after and PHEW that was needed. After the nicesities where done out came the little blue tray with FOUR needles waiting for her little arms to pierce. As Eliana was more wiggly than the last shots at 6 months the doctor had me hold her in my arms and restrain one arm at a time. I forgot what this was like. I wanted to cry for my little baby as she screamed and screamed and screamed. Even after her legs were still shaking. It was almost 20 minutes before Eliana settled and got dressed. We brought along some of her favourite toys to distract her but it did not help. She has 2 sets of little cirlce bandages on each arm. The pictures above are today (day after) and she is much happier.

On the positive side she weighed in at 22lbs 10 oz and is at 75%percentile, not bad for a preemie.
Eliana had been consuming alot of her calories at night so the doctor recommended we stop that and that should aide in her eating more during the day (besides the itchy teeth (10 to date) that make her not want to eat or sleep). So we tried this last night and she went to bed at 8pm, woke at 12:11 am with a few screams and fell back to sleep while being rocked, then got up before 2 am and stayed up til 3am when we gave her a bottle. After that she slept to 8am. So not bad only 1 bottle so hopefully we will continue to wean her off and we will all get some sleep in about 1 years time when the other 10 teeth are due to come up. LOL...

Overall she is doing great today, abit tired as while she walks she is bumping and falling more than usual so a few days of recovery and she will be back to her self. For me, give me another year or so and I will catch up with my sleep too.
